Work Starts On The East Midlands Gateway Strategic Rail Freight Interchange

Earth movers have moved in on the doorstep of our main office at Lockington Hall to begin works on the first phase of the East Midlands Gateway Strategic Rail Freight Interchange (SRFI). Winvic Construction is carrying out the initial works on behalf of Roxhill Developments.

The SRFI will comprise dedicated rail access and reception sidings, an intermodal facility, and approximately 6 million sq ft of rail served warehousing. Accompanying infrastructure works will include the construction of a new bypass around the south of Kegworth.

FPCR provided the Green Infrastructure, landscape, visual and arboricultural services for this Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP). A comprehensive visual impact assessment was supported by photomontages and view-shed analysis and the arboricultural services included an extensive detailed assessment and veteran tree survey.

FPCR have established a strong track record on SRFI schemes, including at Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal and currently at West Midlands Interchange and Northampton Gateway.
