Longford Park, Banbury

Another long standing FPCR project featured on television on 7 February. Part 2 of BBC 2’s look at the planning system “The New Builds are Coming”,  featured differing aspects of Longford Park, the first phase of residential development on the main growth allocation for south west Banbury.

FPCR have been involved in the masterplanning of the overall allocation on behalf of Hallam Land Management and Gallagher Estates for the last 20 years. Their strategic plan followed the practice “Ground Up” approach, retaining the best assets of the largely arable farmed landscape to create a strong green infrastructure framework for the individual phased residential neighbourhoods. In particular, the site benefits from an elevated location overlooking the River Cherwell and the Oxford Canal. As a result, the Masterplan included a Community Park creating major new woodland belts and access routes down to the Canal corridor, thus providing a traffic free routes into the centre of Banbury. The new community, that is now being established at Longford Park, will have excellent connections to both town and country as a result of this approach.
