Following a successful public inquiry, consent has been granted for 85 new homes off Biggleswade Road in Potton, Bedfordshire. FPCR were responsible for masterplanning, landscape analysis, habitat surveys and arboriculture on behalf of Gladman Developments. The case is of particular interest in that the Inspector granted consent despite concluding that the local planning authority could demonstrate a deliverable five year housing supply. He took the view that any landscape and visual effects would be localised, that the landscape led scheme would successfully mitigate any harm, and that the site formed a logical extension to Potton. The wider public benefits of the proposal in providing both market and affordable housing were judged to be important.
