FPCR were the masterplanners and urban designers for the mixed use redevelopment of the former Cotgrave Colliery, part of which has now been restored as a country park.

The work included establishing a ‘Vision for Cotgrave’ and FPCR worked with East Midlands Planning Aid to hold a series of workshops with local residents and schools to establish the vision for the development.

The masterplan for the site aims to provide regeneration benefits for the whole town. The scheme includes up to 470 new homes, a school and employment.

The scheme has subsequently been developed by Barratts David Wilson Homes Ltd and FPCR have continued to be involved providing ecological input into: the reserved matters application to discharge ecological conditions which required extensive botanical surveys mapping sensitive area of Open Mosaic Habitat on Previously Developed Land to inform a translocation strategy / long term management plan, liaising with statutory / non-statutory consultees, obtaining relevant licenses from Natural England, overseeing contractors translocating vegetation and implementing necessary ecological mitigation which assisted the scheme assimilate into the country park setting and maintaining the sensitive ecological features.
