Planning Approval for Monkbridge, Leeds

Monkbridge Leeds Planning Approval

The 607 unit scheme in Leeds has received unanimous approval from Leeds planning committee, with the chair stating “it was the most exciting scheme he had seen in 30 years.”

The former Doncaster Monkbridge site off Whitehall Road is characterised by a grade II-listed former railway viaduct and plans for the residential and leisure-led regeneration scheme are centred around the creation of a new public park, inspired by New York’s famous ‘Highline’.

FPCR worked collaboratively with other disciplines to deliver a range of innovative ecological enhancements, with a key aspect including a distinctive bridge top green space, also functioning as a wildlife corridor.  Bespoke bat roosts were also incorporated in former signal boxes to further contribute to the biodiversity value of the site. This is a great success, headed by the staff at our newly opened York office.
