Two FPCR projects featured back to back on East Midlands TV News last night (15/01/18). Firstly, the redevelopment of what was The American Adventure Theme Park at Shipley Park by long standing FPCR clients Waystone is to proceed, with the site being utilised for a mix of uses including a garden centre, retirement village and housing. FPCR have led the masterplanning and the environmental assessment work on the project over the last five years
FPCR have had a very successful relationship with Waystone now for the last two decades, starting with the redevelopment of the former opencast coal site at Barlborough near Chesterfield for housing, followed by the reclamation and regeneration of the former Glasshoughton Colliery near Castleford. This site now features the Xscape Yorkshire snow dome and the J32 Outlet Village, together with housing and employment, set against the successfully restored colliery spoil heap. It will also become home to the new stadium for Castleford Tigers Rugby Club.
The second news item focussed on the growth of East Leake in Rushcliffe, where FPCR masterplanned the new Admiral Close residential area off Kirk Ley Road which is now nearing completion. Consent has just been granted for what is in effect a second phase following a public hearing, where FPCR presented evidence. Again, FPCR have been closely involved with East Leake for many years, originally designing British Gypsum’s award winning headquarters.
