At SIFE, the practice worked as part of the multi disciplinary team on this key strategic site close to the junction of the M25 and M4 motorways and within the immediate vicinity of Heathrow Airport.
Central to FPCR`s role on the project was to devise the Landscape and Green Infrastructure Strategy (LGIS), that would successfully assimilate the Rail Freight Interchange (RFI), minimise potential adverse environmental effects and seek to maximise opportunities for environmental enhancements. The practice undertook extensive consultation and worked closely with the relevant stakeholders, including the Colne Valley Regional Park, to prepare a comprehensive package of on and off site measures, supported by agreements to manage these in the longer term.
The landscape and visual impact assessment prepared as part of the ES included a series of photomontages and detailed landscape and visual analysis in the context of various published landscape character assessments and planning policies.
Following a planning refusal, FPCR presented evidence at the subsequent Public Inquiry covering the Green Belt, Strategic Gap, Colne Valley Regional Park, Countryside and the effects upon the character and appearance of the landscape.
