FPCR are the masterplanning, urban design and environmental consultants for this emerging 68 hectare sustainable urban extension on the north western edge of Grantham, Lincolnshire. Extending from close to the town centre, the site is effectively contained by a combination of the existing settlement edge and the rising topography.
FPCR have co-ordinated and produced the Environmental Statement, Masterplan, Design and Access Statements and Design Code for the proposed development. This has entailed close liaison and collaboration with both the client team and South Kesteven District Council. The development will provide around 1800 new homes together with a Primary School, Community ‘Hub’, local retail and related uses and Green Infrastructure.
Since outline planning approval for the scheme, phased construction has been ongoing with Bellway and Barratts developing the first phases of housing and the central green ‘spine’ incorporating a number of sustainable balancing ponds. Ongoing design, landscape and ecological services have been provided by the practice to assist with the approvals and delivery of these component parts. ‘Proving’ layouts and the detailed design of future phases are ongoing including for the local centre, school and sports facilities.
