A large crowd gathered to watch a series of activities and performances, including a fire dance, as The Spot in Derby was officially opened on Friday evening.
The large open space, in front of one of the entrances to the Intu shopping centre, is bordered on ones side by bespoke seating, intended for people to sit on to view performances. On the outside of the wall surrounding the space, a Pride of Derby timeline has been created showing key events from the city’s history in the past 350 years.
FPCR provided stage C and D landscape design services for the public realm scheme, working alongside engineers and an artist, to regenerate what was previously underground toilets into a high quality public space for performances and pop-up stalls.
