Dan Houghton, one of our landscape Directors, has recently been appointed as a High Streets Task Force Expert. This is a government funded role, that will provide local authorities with free expert advice to help them evolve their town centres, progress local plans, and perhaps most-critically, respond to the impact of COVID-19. Dan brings a wealth of experience, having been involved in the successful delivery of various high street and public realm schemes.
The new ‘experts register’ is the first of its kind in the UK – bringing together experienced professionals across a broad range of specialisms, from architecture to planning, to sustainable design, place leadership and civic engagement. As part of the Task Force, Dan will draw on his expertise to provide bespoke advice to help councils tackle complex issues that are blocking progress.
In response to being appointed as High Streets Task Force Expert, Dan said:
“I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to be a part of the much needed solution in delivering successful regeneration of our high streets. This is a critical time to intervene into these key ingredients of our economy and public realm, so we can realise opportunities available, and deliver high-quality regeneration schemes, that deliver on all fronts.”
