Paul has 18 years’ experience in environmental and ecological consultancy, working throughout the UK and across a range of disciplines and project sectors, including residential, commercial, mixed use and industrial developments, as well as large scale infrastructure projects. He has experience of environmental investigation for contaminated land and water, environmental auditing for due diligence and compliance, and coordinating Environmental Impact Assessments as well as ecological survey and assessment.
Paul is an experienced ecological surveyor with field skills in habitat assessment, hedgerow survey, and targeted protected species survey including mammals, amphibians, reptiles and holds a great crested newt survey license. Paul’s main interests lie in ecological impact assessment and mitigation and he has in depth experience of designing and implementing mitigation for large scale infrastructure projects such as HS2, including extensive experience of designing targeted mitigation for great crested newt.
Paul has experience of managing projects with a focus on pragmatic problem solving. He is particularly experienced at working on multi-disciplinary projects requiring liaison and negotiation with a range of technical specialists, third party contractors, stakeholders, and regulators such as Natural England and Local Authorities. Paul’s ecological experience includes ecological survey methods, preliminary ecological appraisal, ecological impact assessment (EcIA), protected species assessments, management plans, mitigation design, authoring and coordinating chapters for Environmental Statements, biodiversity assessments, Construction/Environmental Site Management Plans, Ecological Clerk of Works and supervision of contractors.
