Since graduating from the University of Reading in 2004 with a M. Sc. in Plant Diversity specialising in vegetation survey and assessment, Helen has 13 years’ post-graduate experience working as an ecologist, throughout the UK on a wide range of development schemes of varying sizes. She has extensive experience of writing protected species survey reports, Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, ecology chapters for EIAs, management plans and reporting information to support Habitats Regulations Assessments and Appropriate Assessments, as well as protected species licence applications.

A keen botanist with considerable experience in completing Phase I Habitat surveys, Helen also regularly undertakes protected species surveys for great crested newts, reptiles, badgers, water vole, otter and habitat assessments for bats as well as Phase II NVC botanical surveys and habitat assessments for Biodiversity Net Gain calculations.

Helen has experience in working on large scale mixed use developments, smaller residential developments and utilities projects including pipeline installations. Helen is involved in projects from their outset through planning, detailed design, liaison with Local Planning Authorities and statutory organisations, licensing, implementation and subsequent management and maintenance planning.
