One of our Ecologists, Angelena Efstathiou, is taking a winter break away from us to embark on her Nottinghamshire Roosevelt Scholarship (rooseveltscholarship.org) which will see her travelling across the USA from West coast to East coast through 11 states!
The trip will involve visiting a number of academic institutions such as UCLA and Yale along with NGO’s such as Bat Conservation International. She is going to research two things:
- How to increase community and youth engagement with wildlife
- Understanding species re-introduction programmes.
She’s hoping to bring information back to Nottinghamshire (and in particular to Nottinghamshire bat group of which Angelena is heavily involved with) that will benefit wildlife and people, to inspire more people to get involved in its protection for the future.
You can follow Angelena on her travels on twitter @Angelena_C_E, on Instagram kiki.deangelis and on her website angelena.online from which she will be blogging and posting pictures.
We wish her all the best for the adventure and are looking forward to hearing all about it when she returns in 2018!
