Two major schemes masterplanned by FPCR are now nearing final build out and completion.
Both projects were consented following appeals, Leicester Road, Hinckley (232 dwellings) in July 2011 and Henthorn Road, Clitheroe (270 dwellings) in March 2012. The Hinckley site was contentious as a result of its Green Wedge location, but the Inspector concluded that as the site had good defensible boundaries the loss of this particular section of Green Wedge would not diminish the ability of the remainder to guide development form. The Green Infrastructure strategy has successfully assimilated the new homes into the framework of existing vegetation around the site, providing ready access to local open space and the countryside beyond.
The Clitheroe scheme provided the first significant area of growth for the market town in nearly 25 years. Matters such as protection of views from the Castle set high on it’s rocky promontory in the centre of the town and also from the Forest of Bowland AONB all had to be taken into account. The development is also providing a significant area of Community Parkland which connects with the adjacent Ribble Valley Way and the established very popular Edisford Bridge Park.
