Town Centre, Cranbrook New Town

FPCR were the professional consultants appointed to design the town centre for Cranbrook New Town, Devon – a project the practice has been involved in since outline approval was granted.

The new town centre will comprise of a Morrisons supermarket, children’s day nursery, ribbon retail, residential apartments, office space and a new market square.

We have been involved in the development of Cranbrook New Town from the outset, providing landscape, urban design and arboricultural services.

We undertook the landscape design and public realm design for the town centre scheme, working in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, including planners, project managers, architects and engineers.

The scheme is set around a new town square, comprising high quality public realm for markets, events and outdoor cafe spaces.

We produced drawings and a Landscape Management Plan for planning submission, and then were novated to the contractor (Acheson), producing detailed drawings and specification during the construction stage.

The supermarket and nursery formed the first phase of the scheme, completing in summer 2024, with the ribbon retail and market square following in 2024. The remainder of retail, apartments and office space will follow as a future phase.
