We are thrilled that the first phase of a flagship development on the southern edge of Ilfracombe, North Devon, has been given resolution to grant reserved matters planning approval at committee. The proposal brings forward the first 347 new homes, community building / changing rooms and formal sports provision, together with orchards, community gardens, play provision, open space and woodland planting to this unique site, with a landscape led masterplan.
On behalf of Inox Homes (Ilfracombe), FPCR carried out masterplanning, landscape and arboricultural services, as well as architectural services; designing a suite of modern bespoke homes that reference the distinct local vernacular. The FPCR team guided the scheme through a Design Review Panel, presented to the Town Council and other stakeholders, and produced the supporting drawings, Design and Access Statement and Building for a Healthy Life Assessment.
FPCR’s ground-up approach ensured the layout was locally distinctive and maximised the unique opportunities afforded by the site; framing expansive views out along the rugged north coast of Devon, while carefully providing shelter and micro-climates from inclement winter weather.
We look forward to continuing our involvement with the detailed design of the scheme as it moves to the construction phase.
