South Kesteven District Council have granted planning consent for a Designer Retail Outlet Village at Grantham.
The £100 million pound scheme comprises around 35,000m2 of retail space with 130 designer shops offering a range of upmarket high quality brands, alongside restaurants, cafes and a hotel. The 15ha site, which is located alongside a proposed new junction off the A1 and the new Grantham Southern Relief Road, provides part of the wider regeneration and growth of Grantham.
FPCR were appointed by the applicant (Rioja Developments) and the landowner (Buckminster) to coordinate and project manage the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process. This included overseeing and reviewing all of the environmental and technical work as part of the project’s Environmental Statement (ES), as well as preparing the ‘Description of Development’ chapters and developing the various primary and secondary mitigation measures. The ES was prepared as part of a ‘hybrid’ (full and outline) planning application for phased development.
FPCR were also appointed to provide ES chapters to address landscape and visual issues and ecology. This included the production of a Landscape & Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) – to include photomontages – ,an Ecological Assessment with comprehensive surveys for protected species, and an Arboricultural Assessment.
