The vision for Cranbrook New Town is to create a self-sufficient, low carbon new community in close proximity to skilled employment opportunities, encouraging people to use sustainable modes of transport. The aim is to build Cranbrook to the highest code for sustainable homes and by doing so become a trail blazer for low carbon mass open market housing developments.
The early phases of Cranbrook have been built with Cranbrook New Town ultimately delivering some 8,000 new homes as part of the Exeter & East Devon Growth Point.
FPCR were appointed by the Cranbrook New Community Partners (Hallam Land Management Ltd, Persimmon and Taylor Wimpey) as the project’s landscape architects.
Our role has been to produce the detailed landscape and urban design of the project’s green infrastructure and public realm This has included a new Country Park, Ecology Park, sports pitches recreational routes and play space, neighbourhood ‘village’ squares and street design.
FPCR are involved in all aspects of landscape design, implementation and contract administration in addition to preparing reserved matters applications, management plans, and Design Codes.
FPCR are appointed as part of the on-going promotion of future Cranbrook phases. This has included producing Landscape & Visual Impact Assessments, Green Infrastructure Strategies and Landscape Masterplans as part of subsequent outline planning applications.
