Sanjaya, our talented Graphic Designer, recently donated her time and creativity to produce a 26-foot-long mural for an independent children’s charity in Derby. The charity works with children of all ages often dealing with incredibly challenging circumstances.
The mural was produced to help provide a warm, happy, humorous and welcoming space where the children can feel safe and supported. Sanjaya designed a host of cheerful and quicky characters in the hope they would appeal to the diverse young demographic visiting the centre.
One of the trickiest aspects was producing the work around access. Due to the premises being a hub for social services and vulnerable children, the mural of course had to be sensitive to this and work around quieter times. This resulted in the art work taking around three days in total to complete (with some very late evenings).
At one stage however, the work was carried out in front of a live audience with a hive of people accessing the building! It was hugely rewarding to get the interactions and questions from the children first hand and see the smiles and giggles that had been hoped for.
We are a super-proud of Sanjaya, and what she has accomplished – all in aid of such a worthy cause.
