Dave, Ben, Katie, Hazel, Rosie and Shauna from the Dorking Office volunteered at St Martin’s C of E School during the winter break to help rejuvenate their wildlife pond, that has been neglected over recent years. We removed litter, sports equipment, and some organic material to increase the depth and provide clear areas for future aquatic planting. The team also worked on the surroundings to make it more accessible to students and promote vegetation diversity, the hope is the pond can be used for science lessons with pond dipping taking place. FPCR will be returning to help with vegetation planting, monitor the pond and future biodiversity enhancement around the grounds.
It is always nice to get involved with the local community to promote biodiversity and hopefully inspire the next generation of ecologists.
