About us

Jamie is an Associate Ecologist with nine’ years consultancy experience at FPCR, having joined the practice in 2017. His background also includes earlier ecological research roles dating back to 2012.

He holds a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, alongside an MRes in Ecology and Environmental Biology and a BSc (Hons) in Ecology. Jamie is a Chartered Ecologist (MCIEEM) and holds a range of protected species licences, including great crested newt, badger and barn owl. He is also an accredited River Condition Assessor and holds a Level 4 Field Identification Skills Certificate (BSBI).

Jamie’s expertise spans protected species, habitat assessment, river condition assessment and biodiversity net gain. At FPCR, he provides project support and training for staff, contributes to Ecology and Biodiversity chapters for Environmental Statements, and undertakes quality assurance reviews. He also supports projects with specialist technical input and is a Mental Health First Aider within the practice.

His work ranges from large-scale biodiversity net gain assessments for complex sites and NSIPs to research and development projects exploring new workflows. Jamie works with a wide range of clients, from individual landowners to major organisations including local authorities, the Canal & River Trust, and the Ministry of Defence.

Alongside his role at FPCR, Jamie is a committed member of the CIEEM Scotland Member Network, a tutor at the Field Studies Council, and also serves as a retained firefighter.
