Design Codes and Design Guides

FPCR has produced Design Guides for large-scale Sustainable Urban Extensions, such as Stanground in Peterborough.

Similarly, we have produced exemplar Design Codes for large residential and mixed-use schemes, such as London Road, Buckingham and Weedon Hill, Aylesbury, where the Design Code features as an exemplar scheme in the South Midlands Sustainable Communities Guide (April 2005).

Design Codes are an integral part of the masterplanning process and are used to ensure that clear parameters are set out to successfully implement the design philosophy for the development that was set out in the project’s Design and Access Statement. The primary purpose of Design Codes is to provide specific design and development standards and guidance to prospective developers as part of the planning application process. These set out the mandatory baseline minimum standard that is to be adopted across the development.
