FPCR produced the Landscape Character Assessment for the District, as part of the evidence base for the Local Development Framework. The assessment included the identification of character areas at a finer grain of assessment than the broader scale Natural England character areas. A capacity and sensitivity assessment for new built development and wind energy proposals was included for each of the identified areas.
The assessment included reviewing neighbouring landscape character assessments in other districts or counties to ensure that wherever possible there was consistency in the assessments across administrative boundaries. The Landscape Character Assessment documents has been successfully used as a tool for development control, as part of the Local Plan evidence base and at planning appeals.
