Alongside their colleagues in Landscape and Ecology, FPCR were the appointed Arboricultural Consultants working for Mr and Mrs Dale who through their agent Fox Strategic Land and Property, were successful at Appeal in gaining outline planning approval to build 200 new homes with associated public open space and grazed parklands on the 17 hectare site of Loachbrook Farm, to the west side of Congleton.
FPCR undertook a comprehensive tree survey and assessment of impacts arising from the proposals in accordance with BS 5837;2012 to assist with the constraint led design of the Masterplan. The site supported extensive tree cover along the banks of Loach Brook as well as an oak tree covered long-mound SAM, which forms a locally significant feature in the landscape.
The successful scheme was designed around the significant features of the site and all the highest quality trees were retained. The Planning Inspector considered that the proposals represented sustainable development and would deliver affordable housing in an area where there is a significant need.
