FPCR coordinated and were project managers of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for a Designer Retail Village at Grantham.

The £100 million scheme comprises some 35,000m2 of retail space with 130 designer shops offering upmarket high quality brands. The 15ha site is located alongside a new junction off the A1 and provides part of the wider development and regeneration of Grantham. The retail village also includes proposals for a new hotel, restaurants and cafes set within a high quality landscape setting.

FPCR were appointed by the applicant (Rioja Developments) and the landowner (Buckminster) to coordinate the project’s Environmental Statement (ES). This included overseeing all of the environmental and technical disciplines and working alongside a number of consultants, to include the planning and design team. The ES was prepared as part of a ‘hybrid’ application with a full application sought for 20,479m2 of retail space as part of Phase 1 with the remainder of the scheme part of an outline application.

FPCR also provided landscape, ecology and arboricultural services as part of the application. This included the production of a Landscape & Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) – to include photomontages -, an Ecological Assessment with surveys for protected species, and an Arboricultural Assessment.
