Government gives final go-ahead for one of York’s biggest housing schemes

The former British Sugar site, beside the River Ouse, has laid derelict for the past decade, but will now be regenerated into a new neighbourhood. Outline permission has been granted by the Secretary of State following the public inquiry process.

As well as 1,100 new homes, the approved scheme comprises a new community hub, pre-school, primary school and open space, and is to fund the creation of new sports facilities at Millfield Lane.

FPCR prepared a Townscape and Visual Impact Appraisal, that was submitted as part of the planning application.
