PRESTON SPORTS ARENA
FPCR were the lead design consultants and masterplanners for the £11 million lottery funded multi sports complex at Preston . The practice provided landscape, architecture and ecological services on the project. In addition to the extensive sports facilities, the 26 Ha site includes areas of conserved parkland and dedicated wildlife and newt reserves.
The scheme comprises high quality indoor and outdoor sports facilities including an athletics arena, road cycling and exercise circuits, extensive natural turf and all weather pitches, a covered training area and a revolutionary football pitch system of Premiership standards. This system combines natural grass and synthetic fibres to create a surface than can withstand more than three times the use of a conventional pitch.
