PLEASLEY REGENERATION
FPCR prepared the masterplan and design proposals for a mixed leisure and heritage development on the site of the former Pleasley Colliery. At the hub of the scheme are the nationally significant back to back engine houses of the former colliery. Together with a number of other conserved structures, all are Grade II Listed and Scheduled as an Ancient Monument . A detailed visitor attraction and market assessment was carried out as part of the project.
The proposed regeneration scheme comprises a visitor and heritage centre with a use profile focused upon interpretation, education events, catering and specialist retail. A number of the workshop units have been designed to accommodate residential 'ateliers', providing the potential for permanent or temporary 'live in' facilities.
