HEART OF THE NATIONAL FOREST
FPCR were the architects and landscape design consultants for a major new visitor attraction and associated developments on a former colliery site in Leicestershire. The £4 million scheme comprises a visitor centre, the office headquarters for the National Forest, a training school, craft workshops and an outdoor visitor centre.
Involvement of the local community has been particularly successful with the inclusion of interested groups in the design process and through public meetings, a regular liaison and site walks. The project won a BALI Award.
The 1000 seater outdoor amphitheatre has been used by the BBC for Songs of Praise and Gardners Question Time.
