CONKERS
The Discovery Centre forms the visitor focal point for the National Forest. FPCR were responsible for the scheme from the initial concept ideas through funding, planning approvals and tendering, construction of this £16 million scheme. The project has received a Civic Trust Special Award, "Celebrating Construction Award" and has been named as East Midlands Development Agency's "Regeneration Project of the Year".
Within the Discovery Centre are 5 main exhibition bays, filled with interactive exhibits, as well as ancillary facilities including a restaurant, shops and classrooms.
The Forest Park forms a major part of this new visitor attraction that is the centrepiece of the National Forest, and includes an art and sculpture trail, activity trail and wildlife trail, set within an arboretum of new woodlands
